The 30 most common guest questions – and what they reveal about your guest folder

We analysed 4,000 questions from the pilot. Most revolve around five topics. Here is the list – and what you can take from it for your house.

6 minTheresia Rüf

HejGast has been running at Haus Theresia Rüf in Au since the summer. We analysed the guests' questions anonymously – around 4,000 of them, in six languages. The result is not very surprising, but useful nonetheless: most questions are routine, and most of those could be answered by a good guest folder. If it were up to date. And in the guest's language.

Health and emergency (4 %) – rare, but important

  3. What is the address here in case I need to call an ambulance?
  4. What to do after a tick bite?

What this means for your guest folder

Three things stand out. First: a third of the questions concern your house – and the answers almost never change. Write them down properly once and a third of the calls are gone. Second: a quarter of the questions depend on the weather. No folder can answer that, but a concierge with weather data can. Third: emergency questions are rare, but that is exactly where nothing may be missing – address to read out, doctor on duty, numbers.

Our recommendation, no software needed: take the 30 questions as a template, answer each in two sentences, and put the sheet in the living room. If you then want that sheet in six languages, with live weather and bus timetable – that is what HejGast is for.
